Stop Guessing, Start Measuring
One of the most common mistakes truck owners make is assuming all 'Silverado' or 'F-150' emblems are the same size across different years or trim levels. In reality, Chevrolet alone has used over 10 different bowtie sizes in the last decade. Measuring correctly is the only way to guarantee a seamless, factory-plus installation.
The Three Critical Measurements
When measuring your factory emblem, you need to be precise. Use a digital caliper if possible, but a standard tape measure will work if used carefully:
- Maximum Width (W): Measure from the furthest left point to the furthest right point.
- Maximum Height (H): Measure from the top-most point to the bottom-most point.
- Depth/Thickness (D): This is crucial for recessed grilles where the emblem must 'seat' properly.
Common Pitfalls to Avoid
Do not measure the *recess* in your grille; always measure the **existing emblem shell**. Many grilles have a hidden border that can mislead your measurements by as much as 1/4 inch.

Be aware that refresh years (like the 2022.5 Silverado) often transition between different mounting styles. If your truck was manufactured in a transition year, always check if your emblem is 'pushed-in' (clips) or 'stuck-on' (adhesive) before ordering.
